Summer of Eighteen

[sunsets on the water]
I am the girl that as soon as Labor Day weekend hits I pull out my UGG boots, leggings, dark nail polish and oversized sweaters to put myself in full fall mode. This year, not so much – you see I had one of the best summers that I have had in a really long time thanks to my amazing boyfriend. Despite the fact that school took up a lot of his summer availability we were still able to squeeze in plenty of wonderful moments together. I can’t thank him enough for all the moments we shared this past summer. Over the course of the last few months I have shared some of these moments with all of you, and thought with temperatures dipping low it presented the perfect opportunity to get reminiscent.

A, I cannot thank you enough for all the fun I had with you this summer. I will cherish the memories we created forever. I don’t think either of us is ready for the fall, however I cannot wait for all the fall memories we are about to create. P.S. I cannot believe it’s already been over a year since THIS date happened and changed everything – and is definitely a night I could never forget. xo

Five Things

 {Little Sable Point Lighthouse}

This past week was definitely an interesting one. A and I took a little road trip, and things didn’t go exactly as planned. However, both of us stayed calmed and did what we could to make the best of the situation and fix the issues we were presented with. That being said, for me it was a turning point in our relationship. It showed how we reacted in a high-pressure situation, and how we worked to resolve the issues. I feel like since we have pretty good communication skills, as things were communicated things got done, issues got resolved and the weekend ended without any fighting at all. Let’s face it any negative situation stinks, but we got through this one, and it gave me that extra boost of confidence that if we work together as a team we can easily get through things. I can’t wait to see what this weekend brings…besides rain.

Poutine

  i was gifted the opportunity to try MATCH in exchange for an honest review.

You know the saying “When in Rome,” well “When in Canada” – you give poutine a try for the first time. If you don’t know, poutine is a dish originating from the Canadian province of Quebec and consist of French fries and cheese curds that have been topped with a brown gravy. Personally, I thought this sounded completely disgusting. However, since it is a Canadian thing I don’t really see how we could cross the boarder and not try it.

At Match Eatery and Public House you can pick your poutine and they have three kinds available.
Oink, Oink features fresh cut fries, pulled bacon, cheese curds, signature Guinness gravy and crispy onion strings.
Babushka features fresh cut fries, mini pierogis, bacon, cheese curds, sour cream green onion and signature Guinness gravy.
The Carnegie features fresh cut fries, Montreal smoked meat, dill pickles, cheese curds, gruyere cheese and signature Guinness gravy.

We decided on the Babushka and it was absolutely delicious – literally we ate too much. The gravy had a unique flavor which I think really helped the taste of the poutine. Have you ever had poutine before? If so where’s your favorite place to get it?

Typically I am the girl who is sweating in 80-degree weather in her fall sweaters and boots, while everyone else is still rocking sundresses. This year is different, instead of rushing fall I have been hanging on to every last bit of summer that I can. At least that was the case until temperatures creeped into the 40’s and 50’s this week, which had me craving soup. When you work a normal 9-5 job, stopping at the grocery store and then heading home from work to put a pot of soup on the stove, waiting for it to cook just sounds exhausting. That’s why I was so excited to try the MealthyMultipot. This recipe is the quickest and easiest way to make homemade chicken noodle soup!
