Movie Review: Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris is a feel-good fashion fairytale. And you’ll be pleased to learn that in the new film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (in theaters Friday, July 15), Mrs. Harris does, in fact, go to Paris. Get ready for all your Paris dreams to come true.

Lesley Manville plays the role of Mrs. Harris or Ada as her friends know her. Mrs. Harris is a London house cleaner often relied on for emotional support by her clients, and some take advantage of her when it comes to paying.

Mrs. Harris is the dreamer we all are. She’s waiting for her husband to return from war (numerous years have passed) he flew a mission, and his plane went down. Technically he’s still missing in action, and Mrs. Harris is the only one with faith that he could still return home.

One day while Mrs. Harris is working for her wealthiest client and most dreadful she gets a glimpse of a gorgeous Dior dress, and it’s at that most things start moving in a positive direction for the ever-so-lovely Mrs. Harris.

While Mrs. Harris is jotting down notes and figuring out numbers and how much money she gets a knock on the door. Out of the blue Mrs. Harris receives the closure that she needed—her beloved husband has passed away. There’s a bit of war widow money to be collected, combined with a lucky turn at a local lottery, which gives Mrs. Harris the wild idea to head to Paris and get herself a Dior dress.

Like many of us, Mrs. Harris is a dreamer. And after spotting that gorgeous Dior frock at her clients, she wanted something special in her life, we’ve all been there.

I bet you’re wondering how is a house cleaner going to get to Paris, and get the frock of her dreams—with great determination, that’s how. Mrs. Harris walks into Dior off the street where a fashion show is going on. She has a stack of cash, a dream, and of course a dreadful woman standing in her way trying to have her removed.

The movie continues as the Dior fashion show stuns, and Mrs. Harris works to make her dreams of owning a Dior frock come true. She meets new friends along the way, turns enemies into friends, and helps others discover their way.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris is for the dreamers. It’s the movie we all want to see right now. Grab your girlfriends or go alone, just grab some popcorn and enjoy one of my favorite movies that have come out this year.

Nomadik Subscription Review: Light the Night Box

I received this Nomadik subscription box in exchange for my honest review.

I’m back to provide another review on this month’s Nomadik box and let me spill something right now. Hands down this is my favorite box that I’ve received. I’ll be really honest, the box arrived right before I left for my Joshua Tree trip, and I took most of the contents of the box with me. I am sharing my full review of the Light the Night Nomadik Subscription box, as well as each product that was in the box below. This is one review you don’t want to miss.

What was in the Light the Night Subscription Box?

Sun Company Versa 360 Rechargeable Headlamp

I knew I would be doing a night hike while in Joshua Tree, and already had my headlamp packed. My headlamp takes batteries and they don’t last very long in the extreme heat or cold. Once the Light the Night Nomadik box arrives and I discovered the rechargeable headlamp, I took mine out of my pack and packed this one.

Honestly, the headlamp was amazing. The ball joint gives the light 360 degrees of movement, there are 6 white LEDs and 3 red LEDs. The headlamp charges via USB and has a full charge in just 4 hours and has become my adventure must-have.

One80Light Light Diffusing Bag

The multipurpose drawstring bag can easily turn into a hanging lantern by putting a headlamp inside. The bag diffuses the light inside, creating the perfect ambiance at your campsite. The ambiance it creates is truly wonderful.

Nite Ize BugLit LED Micro Flashlight

Equipped with bendable gear tie legs that can be bent, wrapped, or twisted to hold the light anywhere and everywhere. Lately, I have been using the S-Biner clip and attached this cute little bug to my keychain.

Coghlan’s Reflective Guy Line—25 feet

Reflective Guy Line is the product I didn’t know that I needed. This highly visible line minimizes any tripping on your tent or tarp in low light. It’s also great for trail marking.

Overall Thoughts

Loved the Light the Night Nomadik box so much. I have already used every single product multiple times, and the headlamp was amazing for lighting up Heart Rock in Joshua Tree.

31 Things To Do In July

Happy July! ‘Tis the season for bonfires, trips to the beach, and backyard BBQs. July is a sun-soaked month here in Michigan, so in order to take full advantage it I made she sure back this July bucket list with plenty of summer necessities.

1. Did you know July is National Ice Cream month? Start the month off right with a trip to your favorite local ice cream shop.

2. Give yourself a fresh pedicure so you’re extra confident stepping out in flip flops or barefoot this month. If heading to a salon for a pedicure isn’t your thing give yourself one at home. I am currently loving Zoya Pink Palette Summer 2022 and Zoya Hello Summer.

3. Adventure to a local state park or metro park. I love packing a picnic lunch, and going for a hike. If hiking isn’t your thing look for one that has water where you can hang out by the beach, go kayaking, paddling board or rent a pedal boat. You could even read a book while you listen to the water touch the shoreline. State parks and metro parks offer plenty of options no matter what type of adventure you’re looking for.

4 Happy Fourth of July! Pack a cooler and head to the beach. Have a backyard cookout or enjoy a picnic in the park. Whatever you decide to do I hope it’s the best day ever.

5 Happy Graham Cracker Day! Today’s the perfect day to grab a box of graham crackers, your favorite chocolate, a bag of marshmallows and enjoy an evening by a bonfire eating s’mores.

6. Plan a trip to a water park or splash pad.

7. Happy Chocolate Day! Make some brownies or chocolate chip cookies today.

8. Book a camping trip. There’s just something

9. Spend a couple waters on the water on a pedal boat. My local metro park has pedal boat swans, dragons and ducks for rent!

10. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is enjoy time around a bonfire, especially when it involves Hobo Pies.

11. Take me out to the ballpark. Baseball season is in full swing, head to the ballpark and catch a game, and maybe a ball too.

12. Go for a hike. There’s just something zen about venturing around the woods and enjoy time in nature. Be sure to spray yourself with tick spray before going!

13. Happy French Fry Day! Try making your own fries today.

14. It’s Shark Awareness Day today, celebrate by watching the classic Jaws.

15. Get up early and catch a sunrise.

16. Head out to the lake for a kayaking adventure.

17. Test your luck at a game of putt putt.

18. Go for a bike ride.

19. Catch a movie at a drive-in.

20. Unplug for 24 hours and just enjoy the little things the day brings.

21. Visit a farmers market.

22 Happy Hammock Day! Hanging out in a hammock is one of my favorite ways to unwind. Especially after a long week.

23. Do some stargazing.

24. Happy Self Care Day. Do something nice for yourself today, it can be something big like going to get a message or something small like lighting your favorite candle and just enjoying the moment.

25. Go fishing.

26. Visit a U-Pick farm.

27. Take a day trip to somewhere you haven’t been before.

28. Head a museum.

29. Do a random act of kindness.

30. Happy Cheesecake Day! Today is the perfect day to channel your inner Golden Girl.

31. Happy Avocado Day. Today is the perfect day to make some guac.
