Baked Apples

While I was at Christmas Cove (an antique apple farm – more on that later), over the weekend one of the ladies gave me the idea of making baked apples. I couldn’t remember exactly what she said, so I did what I remembered and made up the rest. The finished product was absolutely delish.

Baked Apples
Ingredients
4 medium sized apples
2 tablespoons butter; cut into small pieces
1/4 cup brown sugar; packed
1/3 cup oats
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of cloves
dash of nutmeg
apple cider or water

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Combine butter, brown sugar, oats, walnuts, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a bowl; mixing with a fork until crumbly.
3. Spoon out the center of the apples.
4. Fill apples evenly with the oat mixture.
5. Place apples  in a 8×8 dish.
6. Add about an inch of water or apple cider to the dish.
7. Cover lightly with foil
8. Bake 15 minutes covered, remove foil and bake another 10-20 minutes; or until apples are tender.
9. Enjoy :]

Celebrating 150 Years

The smell of fresh pressed apple cider and homemade donuts is the quintessential smell of fall in my opinion, and that’s what you get when you go to Yates. This year Yates is celebrating 150 years of the BEST cider and donuts in the state. Yates doesn’t pasteurize their cider (which drastically changes the taste) they use a UV light process instead which results is the best cider Michigan has to offer. Don\’t forget to take a walk on the trail along the Clinton River and stop into the apple tent!

{dip these in the cider and they are heaven}

Dove Clear Tone

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove. All opinions are my own. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
How many companies of deodorant are currently on the market? Honestly I don’t even know. Personally I have changed the brand of deodorant numerous times over the years. The biggest thing I look for is a deodorant that’s going to leave me odor and wetness free (especially at the gym), I also want a deodorant that’s going to leave my skin feeling moisturized. I hate irritated underarms and did you know that 32 million women in the U.S. experience underarm red and dark marks… good to know we aren’t alone ladies.

Dove has become one of my favorite brands. “Dove is committed to help women realize their personal beauty potential by creating products that deliver real care.” You know what I truly believe this.

The leaves are drying out and most likely your skin is as well. We lather on the lotion, but do you ever consider moisturizing your underarms? I didn’t think so, because I never gave it much thought. However someone at Dove was looking out for us when they created Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant. It helps get rid of dark and red spots and offers moisture so we don’t have to live with underarm irritation. Hello new lover! The only downfall is I’m not too keen on the scents, as I prefer fruity smells, but if I had to choose one I think Pink Rosa would be my favorite.
If you want to protect your underarms this winter from painful irritation I highly recommend Dove Clear Tone it’s done wonders adding moisture to my underarms and not to mention it stays with me while I’m at the gym! There is no need for under arm insecurities anymore.

Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte

When fall arrives pumpkin spice latte’s tend to the only thing on everyone’s mind, except for mine. I am not a coffee fan at all, but I do however love chai tea latte’s on a cool fall evening. So get ready to curl up on the couch for a cozy indoor evening with homemade Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea.

Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte
Ingredients
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer (I used Coffee-mate)
1 ¼ cups Pumpkin Spice powdered non-dairy creamer (I used Coffee-mate)
2 ½ cups white sugar
1 ½ cups unsweetened instant tea
1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
1 ½ teaspoons nutmeg
½ teaspoon all spice
1 teaspoon ginger

Directions
1. Combine the first four ingredients in a large pot or bowl.
2. In a food processor or blender combine the tea and spices until they become a fine powder.
3. Mix everything together.
4. Place in an airtight container (this will last about six months)
5. Add two or three tablespoons of mix to 1 cup (8 oz.) hot milk – I like to froth my milk (or you can use water).
Note: This is how I like mine adjust your spices as needed.
