Spring into your beauty routine

Brush Up: Did you know you need to clean your makeup brushes at least ONCE a Month! Seriously you do, and if you haven\’t shame on you.
• side note: here is how I clean my brushes I squirt a small amount of shampoo in a cup (baby shampoo works best, but any \”high-end\” shampoo – bedhead etc will work also) fill with warm water and dip my brushes in and then take out and work my fingers into the brush so that they are clean thoroughly. I rinse them with luke warm water and place on a towel to dry.

That\’s so last year: Have sunscreen or products with SPF in them that are over a year old? Toss them. When sunscreen goes bad it makes you susceptible to getting burnt and also leaves your skin vulnerable. This could lead to sunspots, cancer, wrinkles and all the things you should avoid.
• side note: Usually you can tell when your makeup has gone bad because the color, smell or consistency will change. Mineral makeup usually doesn\’t go bad.

SPFin\’ it up: Wear it embrace it love it.
• side note my favorite include: Dermalogica extra rich faceblock spf 30 or bareMinerals SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen

Oil Spill: While thick creams work in the winter they are just not what you want on your face during the summer. Unless clogged pores are your thing. During spring you should try an oil-free product that is light weight, moisturizes and won\’t cause break outs.
• side note my favorites include: bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer or Dermalogica Barrier Repair

A natural glow: Lady Gaga says \”I was born this way\”, and she\’s right we are all gorgeous so why not embrace your beauty. Lighten up your load when it comes to foundation, eye shadow and blush this season.

Pop!: Straight from the runway to you it\’s time to give your lips an electric pop this season. Search for bold colors to pamper your pout. Definitely invest in a peach, mango or tangerine shade as well as a pink or coral.

xo what is your spring beauty routine?

  1. Love love love that first pic of those beautiful flowers and I so need to use more sunscreen when I go outside so I don't end up looking like that dark wrinkled woman! Your giveaway below sounds fantastic. Headed to enter now!

  2. For spring I prep my skin with a mild exfoliant and moisture masques – and start using SPF of course! With only two hours of daylight mid winter there's no use for SPF all winter long.

  3. great tips!! I love summer, a little bit of a tan goes a long way… even if it's fake, so I lighten up on the make-up. I'm bad, I definitely don't clean my brushes once a month… I'm putting it on my to-do list!XOXO

  4. Great tips. I can't wait for summer and getting a little color and the warm weather! Yay for no foundation, just a little lotion and bronzer!

  5. I completely agree with lightening the make up load! Let's see your real face ladies!! Don't hide behind tons of foundation! Let that skin breathe! I need to get better about washing my brushes! I don't think I've ever done that ! yeeps!

  6. Great tips! I will also add, when you dry your brushes, dry them flat not upright. I learned this awhile ago. I don't remember why though…lol…I just know it's better for the brushes. And some brushes are $$ so you have to treat them kindly!

  7. DANGIT! You reminded me of how bad I am for not cleaning my make-up brushes! I seriously think about it all the time, but never seem to get around to doing it…

  8. I love this post! I cringe when I think about the last time I cleaned my makeup brushes. I'm off to take care of that ASAP, hehe! Hugs xx

  9. yes i can't think of the last time i cleaned my make up brush .. maybe that's because i usually use my fingers!! gasp i know i know!! i love spring time bc my skin finally gets to see the sun and that little bit of a glow allows me to skimp on much face make up!
