What Is Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol About?
Presented by Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch, the national tour of Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol brings a fresh American twist to one of the most beloved holiday stories of all time.
Featuring music and lyrics by eleven-time GRAMMY winner Dolly Parton, with a book by David H. Bell, adapted by Bell, Couch and Curt Wollan, this heartwarming musical combines the timeless story of A Christmas Carol with Parton’s unmistakable songwriting expertise.
The story takes place in the 1930s in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, where Ebenezer Scrooge owns a mining company town. His greed and callousness have blinded him to the joys and gifts of the Christmas season.
But as a Christmas Eve snowstorm approaches, Scrooge is visited by his deceased business partner and three ghosts who challenge him to see life differently. Through these extraordinary encounters, he discovers a powerful reminder that love is the greatest gift we have.
It’s a reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, featuring familiar characters, Dolly Parton’s music, and a heartfelt message about what truly matters in life. ❤️
