The Secret: Dare to Dream – Coming to On Demand

Have you heard the news? The Secret: Dare to Dream is coming to your living room On Demand July 31, and I am absolutely thrilled. The movie is based upon the best-selling book, and if you have not read the book I highly recommend you check it out. The movie stars Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas, I loved Josh Lucas in Sweet Home Alabama so I am excited to see him in The Secret: Dare to Dream.

The secret to life will be discovered in homes everywhere when the uplifting and hope-filled film The Secret: Dare to Dream arrives Friday, July 31 on Premium Video on Demand. The feel-good romantic drama starring Katie Holmes, Josh Lucas, and Jerry O’Connell explores hope and gratitude in one’s darkest days, and reminds us that it’s never too late to believe again.

Based on the groundbreaking best-selling book about the law of attraction by Rhonda Byrne, The Secret: Dare to Dream follows Miranda (Katie Holmes), a young widow trying to make ends meet while raising her three children and dating her boyfriend (Jerry O’Connell). A devastating storm brings an enormous challenge and a mysterious man, Bray (Josh Lucas), into Miranda’s life. Bray reignites the family’s spirit but, unbeknownst to Miranda, also holds an important secret — one that will change everything. With its timeless messages of hope, compassion, and gratitude, The Secret: Dare to Dream is an inspiring and heartwarming film that shows how positive thoughts can transform our lives.

The Secret: Dare to Dream will be available to rent for $19.99 through On Demand platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, VUDU and cable providers starting Friday July 31.

Small Scholarships with Big Payouts

[this is a sponsored post]

Heading off to college is stressful. You have to decide where you want to go to school if you can afford it, how you\’ll afford it, what you want your major to be and more. Now throw in a pandemic and everything has become just a little bit harder. All these questions play a major role in your decision. When I was trying to decide where I wanted to go to college it was so stressful. I knew that I needed to find something that was in-state, but after being heavily bullied from fifth grade to my senior year – I knew I wouldn\’t want to stay local.

In my first year, I decided to stay local at a community college. Within a few months of being local at community college, I decided that I needed to apply elsewhere. I applied to a school that was 7.5 hours away. I ended up getting accepted and then all the questions started coming into play. How would I get to school? I don\’t have a car, so what will I do? How am I going to pay for school? Can I get a loan? Can I get a scholarship? What do I do? The stress became a lot to deal with, and finally, I just took it one step at a time.

When it comes to scholarships even if you cannot find a large one you could potentially get a few small ones, and let me tell you those add up. There are plenty of small scholarships you can find online like the academic scholarship from Marc Zboch. In order to help lift a little bit of financial stress off the shoulders of students, Marc Zboch has a $1000 scholarship. While $1000 may not seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, think about what this money could be used for. I mean, hello book money – those bad boys are expensive.

How do you have a chance to win this $1000 scholarship?

It\’s simple, all you need to do is prepare a 500-word essay that answers the following prompt: \”Tell us about a meaningful experience where you were able to help others?\” Simple! Marc Zboch is making it easy for you to have a little extra money in your pocket when you start college. You have until February 1, 2021, to apply.

College isn\’t just about spending time in the books. It\’s creating memories, making new friends, and enjoying yourself. If you\’re stuck with your head in the books and then working a job you won\’t get to enjoy everything that college life has to offer. Using scholarships will help make sure that you get to live up college to the fullest. I know I did! I spend days studying at the beach and weekends hiking every trail that I could possibly find. Nature became another classroom and I would have never been able to have that happen if I was stuck working jobs just to get by.

No matter where you decide to go to school or what you decide to major in, getting a couple scholarships will definitely help lift any financial burden that may arise. Not to mention, books are so expensive – I had a class that we only opened the book once. I spent $500 on a book that I opened once, it was crazy. My grandparents paid for all of my books, and I ended up having to foot the bill for college with  A LOT of student loans. I didn\’t think to search online for scholarships and had I of done that I probably would have had less debt to pay off.

Don\’t forget, the small scholarships are the ones that will give you the best chance of winning some extra cash for college.

Five Things

 [bike rides with my favorite]

Happy Friday! This concludes week 18 of quarantine, and the virus is ramping back up. The governor of Michigan is sick of people not taking masks seriously (wear the mask!), so she mandated that if you are at a large outdoor gathering or indoors (grocery store, bank, any indoor space) that you have to wear a mask to get in. Employees have to physically be outside of stores now to send people away if they are not wearing a mask. I feel bad for the employees that are getting disrespected because some people are just plain nasty.

As for my week, it was filled with a lot of baking, jam and pickle making, artwork, and mini-adventures with Jack. Jack and I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to get out and explore.

The Best Peach Ice Cream

It may not be peach season here in Michigan yet, but The Peach Truck was just in town and I had an overabundance of Georgia peaches. After trying peaches from The Peach Truck, I knew these perfect peaches would need to get turned into homemade fresh peach ice cream. Not only is this the best peach ice cream recipe, but it is so easy to make! This recipe has no eggs, and I even share the secret for easily removing the skins from the peaches. Whip up a batch of peach ice cream for the sweetest summer ever.

The Best Peach Ice Cream
Ingredients
1-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/3 cups heavy cream
2/3 cup half and half
1 teaspoon pure vanilla bean extract
dash of salt
2 cups fresh peach puree (about 4 average-sized peaches)

Directions
1. Prepare your ice cream maker for use.
2. Cut an X in the bottom of each peach.
3. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
4. Add your peaches, and boil for about 45 seconds.
5. Remove peaches from boiling water and place immediately into ice water.
6. After a few seconds, the peach skins will easily rub off.
7. Slice the skinless peaches and remove the pit.
8. Puree the peaches in a blender.
9. Whisk all ingredients together (sugar, heavy cream, half and half, vanilla, salt, and peach puree).
10. Pour into your ice cream maker.
11. Freeze according to the manufacturer\’s instructions.
12. Once the peach ice cream is firmed up (like soft-serve), enjoy or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours to get it to harden up.
13. Enjoy!

With that being said, there are also some that I am not a fan of. Since this isn\’t all the movies for the season, I am hoping some more Hallmark celebrities that I love will popup in other movies and that my favorites will be in at least one other movie – I mean I don\’t know how they expect me to only do Christmas movies with one Lacey and one Alicia Witt movie! Which movie(s) are you most excited to watch on the Hallmark Channel.
