Caramel Apple Muffins

This past weekend I sent my mum a text message to see what she was up to. She informed me that she was making banana nut bread, pumpkin bread and apple bread. As soon as I received this text I suddenly wanted to bake some apple muffins. I headed to the kitchen to come up with a recipe that would have all the flavors of fall. That is where the caramel apple muffin was born (it\’s better without the topping though – at least I think so).

Caramel Apple Muffins
Ingredients
• 1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
• 1/2 c. salted butter, softened
• 1/2 c. sour cream
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1 Tblsp. cinnamon
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 2.5 cups apples, peeled and grated

Directions
• Heat oven to 325 degrees.
• Combine the brown sugar and butter in a large bowl; beating at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla; continue to beat until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in grated apples.
• Pour batter into your baking cups. Bake 15-25 minutes; or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and tops are golden brown. Place onto a wire cooling rack.

For the topping
*note: this taste so good without the topping! For added sweetness add the topping for a lighter muffin don\’t add the topping
• 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
• 1/3 c. butter
• 1/3 c. pecans, finely choped
Combine the brown sugar and butter in a pot. Cooking over medium heat, stirring continuously; until the mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking until the mixture becomes smooth (3-4 minutes). Remove from heat; stir in nuts.
Drop the topping by the spoonful in the center of the muffin.

Hair Products

 Last week after I posted about how to create a hair bow I received numerous comments and emails about what products I use on my hair. So I decided to share with you what I use on my hair and my \”routine\”.

 {Bed Head Superstar shampoo & conditioner}
  {Bed Head Self Absorbed shampoo & conditioner}
 {Bed Head Superstar shampoo & conditioner}
 {Bed Head Superstar Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner & Aussie Styling Mousse}
After towel drying my hair, I spray Superstar all over my head and run a brush through it. Then I take about a quarter size amount of Aussie Mousse and fun it through my hair from the top of my ears down.
 {Bio Silk Thermal Shield}
Before I put any heat on my hair I always spray it with Bio Silk Thermal Shield. This includes before blow drying, and before straightening.
{Rockaholic Rock Out Shine Blaster}
This is the secret to my shiny hair. After my hair is styled (before it would go in a ponytail if going up) I run about a pea size amount of Shine Blaster through my hair from the top of my ears down.
Extra Tips
• I only use about a dime size amount of conditioner on my hair from the top of my ears down.
• I use about the size of a raspberry for shampoo.
• Above you saw that I use three different shampoos and conditioners. This keeps my hair from getting use to one product; which in turn keeps it hydrated.
Monday: Bed Head Superstar shampoo & conditioner

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Color Crush: Brown & Black

Someone once said that brown and black do not mix. Personally I think that\’s an old fashion rule… brown and black do mix well together.
My favorite ways for mixing brown and black
• Go lighter. It\’s easy to pull off a black and brown outfit when you utilize shades of nude, taupe or camel. This creates a gorgeous contrast.
• Pair black tights with brown boots for a simple and gorgeous look.
• Chocolate and black look great together when you pair a chocolate jacket with a black top or dress.
What are your tips for a black and brown outfit?
