Cheerio Treats

Sunday night I attended an Oscar’s party, and I wanted to make a fun but simple dessert. Rice Krispie treats are always a great option, because there are so many different things you can do with them. For this little get-together I decided to use Cheerios instead of Rice Krispie’s. To jazz up the treats I dipped them into chocolate added a little gold dust. The treats were popular, and a few people even said they preferred them over traditional Rice Krispie treats.

Cheerio Treats
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
4 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Cheerios

Directions
1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat.
2. Add marshmallows.
3. Stir until melted.
4. Remove from heat.
5. Add Cheerios
6. Stir until well coated.
7. Place treats into a 13×9 pan coated with coating spray or butter.

Review: Hedwig and the Angry Inch

“Don’t you know me Kansas City, I’m the New Berlin wall – try and tear me down.”
I recently went to see the show Hedwig and the Angry at the Fisher Theatre in downtown Detroit. I went into the show not really having any background of it, at all. This show was unlike any other Broadway show that I have ever seen.  Hilarious and risqué the show made for a fun night out. Five things I loved about the show:

1. Involving Detroit.
2. Audience interaction.
3. Costumes – those wigs were amazing!
4. The message of no matter what, be who you are and don’t let others change you.
5. Risqué parts that were ultimately hilarious.

Definitely a fun show to check out if you’re looking for a laugh.

Metro Detroit only experienced TWO days of sunshine in January, so the sunshine and 60+ degree weather the weekend just provided was much needed. As soon as the sun was out and temperatures started creeping up Saturday I immediately wanted to be at the beach and near water. While the beach part wasn’t really an option I did manage to head down to Detroit and spend time along the Riverfront.

Go Mongo!

I like it on the grill…. a lot! One of my favorite restaurants is Mongolian Grill. You get to create your own stir-fry bowls exactly how you want them and then you watch them cook your delicious bowl on a big round grill. It’s a lot of fun, the food is delicious and it’s also a great date night place to go.
