Broadway Review: Chicago

He had it coming… last night I had the pleasure of seeing Chicago at the historic Fisher Theatre in Detroit. I am a huge fan of Chicago and this is the second time I saw the Broadway version of Chicago, and I can honestly say this was my favorite time seeing it. The show was absolutely incredible, the vocals were unreal, and it was all around the perfect evening.

If you’re looking for a night out, especially with your girlfriends might I suggest checking out Chicago while it’s in Detroit now through April 2nd. If you’re not in Detroit, but Chicago comes to your town, I highly recommend it.

Chicago is at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit

Movie Review: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves—From a Non-Players Perspective

While I am not a D&D player, I know what it’s like to get together with friends and have a game night. It’s the best! Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves perfectly showcases what that’s like.

If there is one thing we can all agree on, there is nothing quite like getting together with your friends, laughing, and having a good time. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves perfectly encompasses that vibe.

Do you have to be a D&D Player to enjoy Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?

The simple answer to this question is no, you don’t have to be a D&D player to enjoy Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but let us get more into that.

The best thing about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is that this movie is for everyone one. Played Dungeons & Dragons for years? You’ll enjoy the movie in a different way thanks to all the Easter Eggs. Joined a campaign once or twice? No problem! You’re going to enjoy the journey. Maybe you’re like me and never played Dungeons & Dragons a day in your life, or you don’t know anything about the role-playing game…that’s fine as well. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves tells a story that works for viewers no matter what your experience level with the game is.

How is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves a Movie for Everyone?

As the audience, you see a group of misfits that come together for a common purpose—to take out the bad and regain what is theirs. Along the way, they have a ton of fun, which makes the movie a wonderful action-packed flick you won’t get bored of. Just as in gameplay, the group needs to do different things to succeed, and just like in gameplay sometimes they fail and sometimes the outcome is exactly what they expected. And that is something we can all understand.

Game players, I think you’ll be very pleased with the lingo you know and love and Easter Eggs that are sprinkled throughout Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. However, if you are like me, and don’t know any of the terms, no problem! Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was written so EVERYONE can enjoy it and does a wonderful job explaining the lingo so you don’t need to know it prior to enjoying the movie.

How long is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is over two hours long. I know, I know, I prefer movies in the hour and thirty-minute range, but hear me out. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves offers numerous action sequences throughout the movie that help keep the pace up. As someone that only knows about Dungeons & Dragons play from her brother and a previous officemate I appreciate that.

Who is the cast of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?

I may not be a player, but something I do know about the gameplay is you put your heart and soul into it. You can tell the cast of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves put their heart and soul into their movie roles as well.

Chris Pine plays Edgin and is the glue of the group aka the planner.

Michelle Rodriguez plays Holga, and let me tell you she’s one badass that is going to capture your heart.

Justice Smith plays Simon and could use a serious confidence boost, like many of us. Making him a very relatable character.

Sophia Lillis plays Doric a Druid that can turn into animals and was probably my favorite character.

Regé-Jean Page plays Xenk and I think he will be game player’s favorite movie character.

Hugh Grant plays Forge, and as a big Hugh Grant fan I was impressed to see him shine in this role, and really tap into my emotion.

Overall Thoughts about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves embraces the spirit of togetherness with friends and takes you on an action-packed journey into the world of fantasy. Each character is unique, and brings something different to the movie, just as each person brings something different to the game.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be in theaters Friday, March 31st, and whether you play Dungeons & Dragons all the time, have played a couple times, or have never played I truly believe you will enjoy this movie.
