I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, and then I walked through downtown Detroit until I arrived at the Fox Theatre where I got to see Elf the Musical. How did it shape up against Will Ferrell’s Elf? Pretty darn well. Elf the Musical is at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit November 22 – November 28, 2022, and I’m sharing my full review below.
Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color? Elf became an instant holiday classic movie as soon as Will Ferrell arrived as Buddy the Elf on the big screen. Usually, it’s hard to take a movie like that and replicate it into a musical performance, especially when it lacks the person that portrayed Buddy the Elf how you expect to see him. However, Elf the Musical was actually excellent. Is it something I would see every year like I want to see Elf? No, but it’s a great holiday performance to check out if you haven’t seen it before.
The scenes were gorgeous, the costumes were fun and the performance was light-hearted just like the movie. If you’re looking for a holiday performance to check out, why not give Elf the Musical a try?
