5 great ways to win a college scholarship
1. Put in the work
Many college scholarship applications require you to write an essay, and this is where a lot of people just shy away. They don’t want to put in the work of writing the essay. Fewer candidates are out there writing an essay, so if you’re willing to write one you definitely have the upper hand. Look around for scholarships, you never know what you might find.
Pro Tip: If a 500-word essay is required make sure you’re only writing 500-words and not 1,000. You won’t be looked at when you try to go above and beyond. 500-words is plenty for you to get out what you want to.
4. Get involved in the community
Give back, get a difference, or get involved in your community. Volunteering not only looks great when you\’re applying for a scholarship, but it’ll also make you feel good that you’re doing good. A lot of scholarships come from non-profits whose mission is to help people, so why not show you care by doing something good.
Pro Tip: Volunteer at a nursing home, to clean up around the city or even at a humane society. The possibilities are endless.
5. Don’t ignore the optional questions
But they’re optional! I know, they are! This is where you will get the upper hand once again. Many candidates will skip the optional questions to get it over sooner. If you answer the questions, you have a better chance of standing out, because they know that you take extra care and consideration when it comes to things.

Raise your hand if you’re ready to hit the water this summer? I’ve been posting pictures and videos on my Instagram of me exploring the Great Lakes, rivers and lakes on my Explorer standup paddle board from Roc Sup Co., in the sun and rain.
One question that keeps coming up is what board would I recommend for a beginner, and to be honest the only board I ever recommend is the Explorer standup paddle board from Roc Sup. The board is great for everyone, dog and budget friendly. No joke! Last summer my aunt (who has no previous SUP experience) was able to paddle board around the lake on my board with NO issues. She didn’t fall off, and she loved it.
While this post is a humble brag about Roc Sup Co. having the BEST inflatable paddleboards on the market, I am giving you my top 7 reasons why I love my Explorer from Roc Sup Co.

The Explorer Standup Paddle Board from Roc Sup Co. typically runs for $699.95—which is a great price in general. Most inflatable SUPs will run you closer to $1000 and over, and Roc Sup offers boards that are just as good or better than the others on the market at the higher price point.
Pro Tip: Roc Sup Co. puts their SUP boards on sale often. For instance the Explorer Standup Paddle Board is currently $399.95—literally a steal!

The Roc Sup Co. Explorer comes with THREE fins (one is detachable), which makes this board truly engineered for stability. Cargo bungees at the front of the board allow you to stow essentials (I like to attach my keys, water bottle and cooler), EVA foam deck is comfortable even after hours on the water. The Explorer SUP features military grade construction. Plus plenty of room for your pup!

The grippy deck pad is design to stand up to your puppers claws, and won’t scratch or ding. Strap a life vest on your pup and enjoy fun in the sun with your best friend.

The all around shape of this board means versatile performance. You can ride with friends, do yoga, go fishing, have your four-legged friend join and more. Ride on lakes, rivers, inlets, lagoons, the ocean, the Roc Sup Co. Explorer standup paddle board is made to go everywhere.

The Roc Sup Co. Explorer standup paddle board comes with a large, comfortable backpack that is designed to hold the board and all of its accessories. Inflating and deflating is quick and easy. The high pressure hand pump makes inflating your standup paddle board anywhere a breeze.

Three years after the suicide of Anthony Bourdain he’s brought back to life in Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain. As a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain, let me assure you this documentary does not miss the mark. Bourdain wasn’t your typical television show host, he was someone his fans could relate to. He showed us the world and food like it had never been seen before. He connected with his fans, and we connected with him.
Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is just that, a documentary that gives you a better understanding of the chef, author, and traveler we all knew and loved thanks to his shows and books. The documentary gives you a few glimpses into Bourdain’s childhood, but mainly focuses on his adult life and career where he went from a line cook to publishing the book that made us all take notice. With quick looks into his childhood, the documentary mostly focuses on his adult life and career from when he went from a line cook to publishing the book that launched him into the public eye. If you’re looking for a food focused documentary, that is not what you’ll find.

Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain lets fans see glimpses into Bourdain’s life like never before. The amount of video footage they have of him is crazy, and really is a testament to his overly documented life. As a huge Anthony Bourdain fan the first part of the movie was difficult to watch, as it opens with Bourdain talking about his eventual death and how he wants it handled. That right there made me made some tears start to flow.
Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is probably one of the best documentaries that I have seen. It’s beautifully scripted, you hear things right from Bourdain himself, and those he impacted. While Bourdain may be gone, his legacy will live on forever.

Money, money, money, MONEY – it makes the world go ’round, but do you ever feel like you can’t get ahead? You’re trying hard to live on a budget, build savings, have a social life and not get stressed out. You see your friends taking trips to Disney, and going on Disney cruises with their kids – they tell you how much it is and your jaw drops. Seriously? You start to ask you’re a series of questions like “how can they afford that,” “what am I doing wrong?” and “what can I do differently?”
Your friends may be stuck in a mountain of credit card debt just like you. I mean let’s face it, Disney does cost a small fortune. When you’re fast with a mountain of credit card debt it is easy to start to panic and feel like all hope is lost. Some people just stop paying their debt because it’s already overdue and they don’t have the money to pay the minimum balance, which makes everything worse. Before you start to panic and decide that you need to change your name and go into hiding or file for bankruptcy, take a deep breath. There are ways to find relief, and today I am sharing three of them with you: make a list of who you owe money to, stop spending, work with a company.
It is important to know what you owe, and to whom you owe it. Take time to sit down, and list your outstanding debts. This includes credit card debt, personal loans, and medical bills. Write down the balances you owe, the interest rate, monthly payment, and the due date. This will help you create a plan so you know what you need to tackle first.
Easier said than done, right? While that may be the case, it is actually very important that you stop using your credit cards immediately. If you are unable to make ends meet without putting yourself into debt, then you seriously need to reevaluate your budget and where the money is going. If you are already on a budget, you may just need to take the time to re-evaluate it again to see where you can cut back on more expenses.
Adding more debt to your mountain of debt will just stress you out even more, and cause you bigger problems down the road. Since spending beyond your means is what brought you to this situation, you have to change that behavior to get yourself out of debt.
I highly recommend paying cash for groceries, gas, etc. That way you know you only have X amount of dollars to spend, and you are not overdoing it. When it comes to grocery shopping you probably should start purchasing less and come up with a meal plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinners to save money. Maybe you eat out a lot, and it’s time for you to start cooking at home. Do you have cable? Perhaps you could go without that for a while so you can save some money. There are plenty of ways you can cut money, you just have to figure out where you can, and what you will allow yourself to cut.
If you’re just struggling and have no idea what to do, you’re not alone and some people can help you. Find a company that can help you with debt relief solutions. These companies will work with you to greatly reduce or eliminate your debt and get you back into a better financial state. When you work with a professional company, you can quickly gain debt relief. Don’t let bad credit loans Florida ruin you. Seek help.
