Whether you like it or not wedding season is upon us. With this comes the all to familiar feeling of “what do I wear?”. Then comes decoding the invitation; casual, black tie and semi-formal attire. Here is my little guide for interpreting wedding dress codes, and tips you can apply to any wedding or event.
Black Tie. Black tie is the most formal of all wedding dress codes. More often than not, black tie weddings are in the evenings so bring on the sequins. I suggest wearing a long evening gown paired with sparkly jewelry and a gorgeous updo.
Semi-Formal. You will want to take into consideration the time and location of the wedding. If the wedding is during the day, opt for pastels paired with a pop of pink on your lips. For nighttime, opt for bold jewel tones paired with a red lip.
Casual. Stick with a natural makeup look and a simple hairstyle. Usually my hair is in a braid for casual weddings. A sundress or a nice blouse and skirt will give you a chic informal look.
Never fail tips
• Don’t know what to wear? Opt for a romantic look.
• Keep your makeup natural and play up your eyes or lips based on the wedding dress code.
• When it comes to hair, a simple updo, chignon, braid or bouncy ponytail can easily finish off a romantic look.
• Nude heels will elongate your legs and make them appear thinner.
• If wearing open toe shoes be sure that your toes are polished.
• When wearing nail polish light pinks and nudes go perfect with any dress code/color.
• A clutch is a must; in my opinion
• NEVER wear jeans.
Growing up, you could find my pink polished fingers wrapped around a Barbie. To this day pink (preferably Barbie pink) is still my signature color, but I feel as though the ideal Barbie pink polish has never existed. So you can imagine my excitement when Zoya released Shelby, the perfect Barbie pink. As soon as I saw this hue I knew that I had to pair it with a bit of sparkle.
Growing up, guests would always stop by my parent’s house and anticipate indulging in fun treats. My mum would struggle to find/make things for these guests. When I moved out onto my own I became determined to have a go-to snack simply for this reason. This sweet snack consists of four ingredients that you can easily keep in your home, and only takes minutes to make.
