Christmas is closer than you think, and you never know who might stop over that you need a gift for. Soap is a great last minute or friendship gift (I mean who doesn\’t need hand soap?) and no brand is more affordable than Softsoap ($1). However if you\’re giving it as a gift you want to jazz it up so simply remove the labels and add stickers (mine were $1 per sheet from Michaels and Walmart), an inexpensive gift that looks adorable in a cello bag adorned with a bow.
As a child Christmas felt magical, because of all the special things you did only at this time of year – decorating sugar cookies, Christmas stories by the fire…etc. Keep the magic alive by starting some traditions with the guy in your life. Here are 11 ideas.
1. Go ice skating.
2. Go to a Christmas tree farm and cut down your own.
3. Do a movie-marathon night of your favorite holiday movies, like Elf, Frozen or It’s a Wonderful Life.
4. Drive around the ritziest neighborhood in your town to look at the fancy houses’ lights.
5. Buy each other one special ornament each year.
6. Host an annual party for friends with a fun theme (cookie exchange or ugly sweater perhaps).
7. Make a gingerbread house.
8. Bundle up, drink some hot cocoa and go for a romantic moonlight stroll.
9. Get a grown-up picture with Santa.
10. Build a snowman
11. Exchange at least one homemade gift.
Winter has arrived and that means roaring fires, binge-watching movies, snuggle and comfy coat season is in full swing. On the downside, it’s comfort food season. Lots of us fall victim to the “winter 10” and it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are three tips for surviving the winter:
1. Keep to your regular exercise schedule. I try to continue to go to my Pilates and Kickboxing classes each week. Too snowy or cold to leave the house? No problem! My Yoga Online and BeachBody DVD’s are great options.
2. Don’t party hungry. Holiday parties are filled with plenty of hard-to-resist treats, so be sure to load up on fruits and veggies beforehand.
3. Keep healthy snacks handy. You never know when you might get hungry so having a healthy snack in your purse is key. Things like nuts, nut butters or protein bars are perfect to have on hand.
