Don’t let the ‘Meat Free Since ‘83’ sign fool you, The Chicago Dineroffers some delicious food and even better desserts. Also, Lady Gaga likes to eat there so even more of a reason to check it out when you are in the windy city. My BFF is vegan, therefore I tried out some things I never would of before.
Thai Chili Wings are seitan \”wingz\” with chili lime marinade and Sriracha Ranch dipping sauce. Sesame garnish. Now I wasn’t a huge fan of these, probably because I’m definitely a chicken girl. However they did have decent flavor and my BFF definitely loved them.
Poutine features Canadian style waffle fries topped with melted Teese Vegan Cheese, country gravy & green onions. With bacon, sour cream and Jalapeno. I really wasn’t a fan the cheese had that fake cheese taste – but the vegan BFF gave them a thumbs up.
Now lets talk about my favorite part DESSERT! The Chicago Diner has AMAZING shakes, I’m talking so much better than ones made with regular dairy ice cream. We got the Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake and it was heaven….. seriously heaven.
Of course we being two basic girls we had to get the S’more Brownie Sundae – this is the reason you NEED to go to the Chicago Diner. Layers of rich chocolate brownie, graham crackers, marshmallows, topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate ganache, whipped cream and graham crackers kind of heaven. (Not we got these to go, and so it wasn’t as pretty as it should be since we forgot about it and let the ice cream melt).
April Showers Bring May Flowers
One of my favorite things about living in Michigan is the fact that one day everything is completely ugly and dead and the next everything is in full bloom. The streets are currently lined with the prettiest shades of pink and white flowers. Tulips and daffodils are popping up everywhere, and it’s about to get even better.

Fifteen-year old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. The production is designed by Tony Award-winner Bunny Christie and Tony Award-winning video designer Finn Ross, with lighting by Tony Award-winner Paule Constable, choreography by Scott Graham and Olivier Award-winner Steven Hoggett for Frantic Assembly, music by Adrian Sutton, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph, and hair and wig design by David Brian Brown. Casting is by Daniel Sweeand Cindy Tolan.
CURIOUS INCIDENT transferred to London’s West End, following a sold-out run at the National’s Cottesloe Theatre in 2012. The production received seven 2013 Olivier Awards, including Best New Play and continues a successful run at the Gielgud Theatre in London. A UK and Ireland Tour launched in 2014 and a second tour of the UK and Ireland will embark in January of 2017.
CURIOUS INCIDENT, the longest running play on Broadway in the past 10 years, opened on October 5, 2014 at the Barrymore Theatre, winning five Tony Awards including Best Play, six Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Play, five Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding Production of a Broadway Play and the Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Broadway or off-Broadway Play.

Mark Haddon’s novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was published in 2003. It was the winner of more than 17 literary awards, including prizes in the US, Japan, Holland and Italy as well as the Whitbread Book of the Year Award in the UK in 2004, and has been translated into 44 languages. His latest work, The Pier Falls, was released in May 2016.

The Morrie: Brunch
But first, brunch! Weekends were made for brunch dates, and I recently had the opportunity to try out brunch at The Morrie – it was all sorts of delicious. The Morrie offers a variety of amazing brunch options including, but not limited to: Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle Stack, French Toast and Avocado Toast. I tried the Veggie Bowl, which comes with scrambled eggs, sweet potato tots, red onion, bell peppers, roasted corn, beets (I got mine without), tomato and kale and let me tell you it was so good!
I Carried a Watermelon
I definitely had the time of my life Friday night when I saw Dirty Dancing on tour at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. I watched Dirty Dancing for the first time in college at the “Maxi Pad” with girlfriends – we also played chubby bunny and I learned I could fit 9 jumbo marshmallows in my trap, but that’s a story for another day. The performance was better than I ever imagined it would be. The dancing was amazing – professional Dancing with the Stars status. They followed everything from the movie, which made the show even better. Plus, the audience really got into it, which was great. My favorite show that I saw live is Wicked and Dirty Dancing is right up there with it now.
