Something Rotten is coming to Detroit, and I am so excited to see this new and original musical. This completely original new musical Something Rotten!, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award and Tony Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Tony Award nominees Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O’Farrell, will play Detroit’s Fisher Theatre, September 25 – October 7, 2018.
Detroiters have you heard the news three MAJOR Broadway Blockbusters are returning to Detroit and I can\’t wait. Detroit will be welcoming Chicago, The Phantom of the Opera and The Book of Mormon. If you\’ve been following Fashion meets Food for the past year you know that Andrew and I absolutely love attending Broadway shows, so you can imagine our excitement when we found out that these three blockbusters were being added to an already amazing lineup of Broadway coming to Detroit.
Broadway In Detroit announced today that three blockbuster Broadway shows – CHICAGO, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and winner of 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON – will each make return engagements to Detroit in the upcoming season.
Hello pretty little thing, Mazda you sure do not disappoint. This past week I had the opportunity to hit the town in the Mazda3 Grand Touring 5-door. I usually hate red vehicles, but the metallic red shade of this vehicle was really eye catching and took sporty meets stylish to the next level. Also, I don’t think I have ever received so many positive compliments about a car before. This is a hatchback, is not like the one your grandparents drove back in the day, it’s stylish and will turn heads while you’re cruising down the road. I really loved how roomy the hatchback area was – it fit three beach bags and a large cooler with room to spare! My personal vehicle gets 11 MPG, which is absolutely TERRIBLE, especially with rapidly increasing gas prices. The Mazda3 Grand Touring 5-door averages 30 MPG (20 MPG city and 35 MPG highway), which is AMAZING! After driving the car for a week I had a quarter tank of gas left! Features:
Navigation system – love this because I have ZERO sense of direction
AM/FM radio
Sirius XM
Adaptive Cruise Control – seriously love this feature when I’m on the expressway.
6-way power drivers seat – it adjusts height-wise for my short self, which was nice because I could actually see over the dashboard.
Moonroof – which I am obsessed with and even use when it’s blazing hot outside.
Lane assist – annoying beep when you cross a line (thankfully this feature could be turned off because it drives me insane).
Blind Spot Monitoring on side mirrors and popup dashboard – LOVE
Heated Seats – despite it being ridiculously hot outside, there were two days that this feature was actually used – both instances were to make backs feel better.
Heated Steering Wheel – obsessed with this feature during the chilly months.
This car is fabulous, I am really starting to fall in love with Mazda’s and with a starting price point of $24,945 this car is definitely one you won’t want to pass up.
The June Mitten Crate arrived and was jam packed with Michigan brands I have never heard of, which of course is always fun. Here\’s what\’s inside the box….
We all have a love/hate relationship with loans. We love them, because they help us go to college, get a car and afford a house. We hate them because we’re now in debt trying to pay a loan back that we think we’ll never be able to pay. There is also the worry of will I even get this loan, is my credit good enough, what will I do if I don’t get this loan. When it comes down to it loans are incredibly stressful, especially home loans. You fill out all the paperwork, put your life in the hands of someone else and hope and pray and wish that you get pre-approved. Once you get pre-approved you find the house of your dreams and now you’re once again back to hoping, praying and wishing that you’ll get approved and get the money you need to have your perfect little home. Even when you know that your credit score is on point you still have that pit in your stomach. I used to work at a real estate office, and did you know there is such thing as bad credit loan? Sadly, it’s a thing! Here in Michigan there is a very large and popular loan company that pre-approves everyone. You might think, well that’s all fine and dandy – however what happens when you have the pre-approval, find your dream home and go to get that money and they say “I’m sorry you’re not approved”. Hold on a minute, I was pre-approved and now I am not approved at all… what gives? It’s heart breaking for someone who has bad credit, especially when they find something they really want. If you have bad credit you really need to do your research and find a brokerage that is on your side, working for you, looking out for your best interest and trying to help make your dreams a reality. When it comes to qualifying for a home loan, bad credit shouldn’t be what holds you back – you shouldn’t have to wait for it to approve for your life to start. That’s why it is critical for you to do your research and find someone that cares, not just the big company that makes you a number instead of a person here in Michigan that I spoke of earlier. If I can give you any tip about your credit it is to NOT close charge cards that you do not use. I previously did this, I had 27…ugh yes 27 credit cards. I decided that I needed to go for the minimalism approach to things and canceled all but one. Well, this was the worst idea in the history of ideas. My credit score plummeted, quickly. I went from having a perfect score to looking like I had no idea how to use money… at all. It was pathetic, and heart breaking. But it’s a lesson learned and a reason that your credit might be holding you back. Just remember, even if your credit blows, there is a someone somewhere ready to work with you – they may not be able to make your dreams happen at that moment, but they can make something happen.
