Welcome to the most gorgeous place on earth

We all have times of our lives that always make us smile when we think about them. The best three years of my life took place in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during college. While most people spend their time in college getting ssswwwasted face we spent our time exploring the great out doors and seizing every moment we had. Some great memories and photo opportunities took place during the snow globe months. So I figured I would share some moments with you.

One Less Lonely Girl

I\’ll be honest when I first heard Justin Bieber would be teaming up with Nicole by OPI to create a nail polish line that would raise awareness and funds for the non-profit organization called Pencils of Promise. My thoughts began with an eye roll. The collection has seven colors, and actually I kind of liked some. So I thought I would share with you my favorites… minus \”Step to the Beat of My Heart\” which is adorable heart glitters… i\’m saving this for a Valentine\’s post!

Prized Possession Purple is a frosted deep and luxurious purple. Hello summer toes!!!

Me + Blue is a sapphire blue with glitter specks. It\’s a fun winter color that can definitely get you ready for spring and summer.

{my lifesaver}

My Lifesaver is a gorgeous mint green color. If you are going to get any color from the collection I suggest you make it this one. It\’s great for spring and summer. So far it\’s my favorite color of 2011 and it\’s going to be hard for another to replace this one!

Friday & Saturday Eats

{breakfast: apple cinnamon cheerios… I finally finished the box off}

{lunch: pb & j with a cutie and flat out pizza}

{dinner: fruit salad I wasn\’t very hungry…. biscuits and gravy with fruit and oj. I ate half of a biscuit.}

Snacks not pictured: peanut butter pretzels, butter toffee almonds, cheese & crackers.

As you may have read instead of resolutions I will be setting weekly goals.

Week One Goals
•begin to learn a new skill –in the process
• eat a salad for six out of the seven days – completed
• drink at least 64 oz. of water – failed
• eat 80 grams of protein – did okay
• no eating/snacking after 6:30 pm – failed two nights I had cheese and crackers after 8 pm!

Week TWO Goals
• drink at least 64 oz. of water!
• no eating/snacking after 6:30 pm
• going vegetarian for the week
• fill up on protein
• eat salad six out of the seven days

Winterizing

So I am sure you have heard about getting your car winterized, but did you know that you should winterize your skin routine? Here are my tips on how to save your skin during the frigid winter months.

Face Talk

Use a gel or cream face cleanser. This will help to replenish lipids. I suggest Dermaloica\’s UltraCalming Cleanser or Philosophy Purity. (I use both with my Clarisonic Brush)
Sweep away those dull and flakey skin cells with Dermalogica\’s Daily Resurfacer which not only hydrate your skin, but brighten it as well. I also like Fresh Soy Face Exfoliant, however I find that the Daily Resurfacer by Dermalogica works better.
Hydrate your skin by spritzing on a toner throughout the day, yes even over makeup. I recommend Dermalogica\’s UltraCalming Mist or Borghese Tonic Mist my mum swears by Borghese\’s Tonic Mist.
Comfort sore and irritated skin by using a masque two to three times a week. I recommend Dermalogica\’s UltraCalming Relief Masque or Borghese Fango Active Mud for Face and Body.
Buy a heavier moisturizer that will allow for your skin to stay nourished day and night. I love Dermalogica\’s Super Rich Repair or if you don\’t like the heavy moisturizer feel try Ole Henriksen Vitamin Plus Moisturizer.
If you are like me and live in a state where winter contains a lot of frigid temperatures you definitely want a solid healing balm. There are two that I have with me always, CosMedix Rescue Balm and Mask and Climate Control from Dermalogica Both of these really give exposed areas hydration.
Give those lips of yours some hydration by getting a lip scrub. I love Natural Lip Sugar Scrub in lime and raspberry lemonade.

Tips & Tricks
• Remember to avoid using hot water on your body and face as it removes moisture from the skin. Instead, use luke warm water and pat skin dry…don\’t rub. Also while skin is still damp you can apply your body moisturizer and this will help to lock in moisture.

• Always carry a solid skin balm with you to touch up very dry areas, such as your cheeks during the day. I love Climate Control from Dermalogica and CosMedix Rescue Balm and Mask.

• Make sure to always have lip balm or lip gloss with you at all times to give your lips a boost of hydration. Here are just a couple of the lip hydrating products I currently have in my handbag… Smith\’s Rosebud Salve, LORAC Vitamin E Stick, Softlips, Burt\’s Beeswax Lip Balm

• Own a humidifier your skin will love you for it.

Winter White

You can\’t wear white after labor day… as so they say. Rules are meant to be bent, and this winter why not bend the rules and step out in a gorgeous winter white. Winter white is not the stark white that you see people skipping around in during summer. Winter white is chic and has a hint of cream to it. I currently am using my winter white Kate Spade hand bag that has black polka dots on it. After Christmas I will bring out my Coach winter white handbag.
