Pretzel Sparklers

While growing up I watched my Mummsie create homemade baked goods for the holidays. For me homemade desserts are always better than those bought at a store. While I may not be at home anymore to share in the treats that my Mum creates I am now on my own –  creating my own \”perfect holiday\”. I absolutely love the salty and sweet mixed taste of baked goods, so it shouldn\’t come as a surprise that one of my favorite desserts is chocolate covered pretzels.  I decided to make some \”pretzel sparklers\” to be placed in a hurricane vase and displayed for the Fourth of July.

Pretzel Sparklers
To make two dozen, place four ounces of chocolate or white chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted; remove from the heat. Dip your pretzels in to the chocolate covering 1/2 to 3/4; pour on sprinkles and lay on a waxpaper covered cookie sheet. Place in the refrigerator until firm, about five minutes.

Nice Stems! A Summer OPI collection

 You can imagine my excitement when I found out OPI was releasing a summer collections called Nice Stems that contained four pink polishes.

 {from left to right: Play in the Peonies, Be a Dahlia Wont you?, I Lily Love You and Come to Poppy}

 {Play in the Peonies}
Play in the Peonies is a white with just a touch of pink and pearl luster I absolutely adore peonies as they are one of my favorite flowers. I especially love the soft pink hue that they have. I was expecting more out of this shade and wish it had more pink in it as opposed to the white.

 {Be a Dahlia Wont you?}
Be a Dahlia Wont you? is a  a bright fuchsia with flecks of glassy glitter pieces. Because of the flecks of glassy glitter I found it extremely hard to capture this shade. Again this was not a color that i would really associate with a Dahlia.

 {I Lily Love You}

 I Lily Love You is a dainty pink multi colored glitter with gold confetti pieces. To me it seemed like a brighter version of Katy Perry\’s \”Last Friday Night\”. I think it\’s kind of pretty and definitely a dainty shade for a little girl.

{Come to Poppy}

Come to Poppy is a pinky coral hue and is my favorite color in the collection. This lacquer is more of a pink than an orange where as the actual flower is more of an orange.

My thoughts on the collection
While this collection is very feminine I felt like it was lacking. When I found out it was going to be based on some of my favorite flowers I was expecting some gorgeous pinks with a great coral/orange thrown in. Instead it was a collection that lacked the wow factor and contained a lot of pearl, glass flecks and glitter. For people who are not polished pink girls this collection may be for you, however I am a pink girl and just felt like the entire collection left me hanging.

A Kate Update

Kate carried out her first military role as a royal along with William as they attended a special ceremony in Windsor to mark Armed Forces Day.
So who was she wearing?
Fascinator by: Rachel Travor-Morgan
Earrings: Kiki McDonough
Military Jacket: Appears to be Alexander McQueen
Clutch: Anya Hindmarch Marano, Shagreen(stingray) in blue
Shoes: Prada Pumps

Of course I cannot forget this charming bracelet. There is a tiara a top a cursive \”c\”. Which is Catherine\’s official seal.

If you wanted to copy Kate\’s shoes, dress, jacket and clutch at Epsom it\’s going to run you over $800. The clutch alone is going to run you about $224. However when I was at Nordstrom searching for a clutch for myself I found an alternative to Kate\’s LK Bennett Natalie Clutch.
This clutch can be found at Nordstrom and will run you about $118

Floppy Sun Hat

Tips & Tricks for looking gorgeous in a floppy sun hat

• Cheaper versions can be found at stores like Forever 21, however they\’ll lose their shape after only a few times worn. If you are in love with the look invest in one from somewhere such as Marley Lilly where you can even have your hat monogrammed!

• Perfect for laying out and blocking UV rays.

• These hats definitely channel a retro look.
So pair them with:
bell bottoms
oversized sunglasses
statement necklace and or earrings
sundresses
sarongs
cover-ups
bathing suits
high waisted shorts/skirts

• The hat also looks trés chic paired with the boho or hippie look.
